Copper Sulphate belongs to the family of inorganic compounds and is most commonly utilized as fungicide and non-agricultural herbicide. It has chemical formula CuSO4.5H2O with a molecular weight of 249.685 g/mol in pentahydrate form. This compound is also used as an algicide in swimming pools and is required for treatment of parasitic infections in aquariums. It is a key compound for the preparation of Benedict's reagent & Fehling's solution used in laboratories for performing the test of reducing sugars. Copper Sulphate serves as mordant for dyeing vegetables and for intaglio printmaking.
